Birth Photography FAQ

We can only take a certain number of births each month in order to ensure that we can be present for your little one’s arrival so it’s a good idea to book at least a few months in advance.

Yes, we do. We offer birth videography, too.

We use natural light 98% of the time because our equipment is capable in almost no lighting, but we are also experienced in how to use a flash without disturbing a labouring woman, so that no moment is missed.

Call us as soon as you have any signs of labor, even if you don’t need me yet. Early communication is essential for us to get there sooner rather than later. We are on-call and available to you for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your estimated due date. If you deliver earlier than that time-frame we will make every effort to still be available to you. If we are unable to attend your birth due to illness and we cannot find a back-up, you will receive a full refund. If we miss your birth due to a faster than usual delivery, meaning we arrive within one hour after we are called and you’ve already given birth, we will not be able to refund you. We will continue the session as planned.

I shoot in colour, however, most of my post-processing for birth sessions transforms your photos into black and white. Especially with birth photography, it helps draw out the raw emotions of the day. That being said, we will include some color images more than likely, especially if requested.

Check with your doctor about this. Some allow photographers to be there, but often times, we are not allowed in the OR. If this is the case, we will still be there to capture this precious event from the first moment we’re able to be in the room with you.

Our session fee offers unlimited coverage. We know that births don’t go exactly on schedule and sometimes they last a LONG time. But we will be there!

We will show up no matter what time it is. We are on call 24/7 from 37 weeks on and will be available via text or cell phone. You will need to appoint someone to call us when you are in active labor (usually 6cm). We ask to be notified when your labour begins so that we can arrange our day. We will arrive to photograph active labor, delivery, and the first moments of you and your baby together.

Absolutely! We would never want you to feel like there is a stranger in the room with you on the day of your birth. We can get together for a pre-birth consult so you can get to know us before the big day. During our initial consultation to book your birth photography, we will discuss your vision for your birth session and answer any questions you may have about the process. We will not shoot any types of images that you feel uncomfortable with and we will work to make sure we capture the little things to remember the day as well.

Yes, definitely. You will need to check with your doctor to ensure that we will be allowed to be there documenting the event. Most doctors are okay with it, but some hospitals and doctors have rules against it. It’s your responsibility to check with them to get their consent.

Babies look great in just a diaper or a white onesie. Pack an extra shirt for dad just in case (grey, white, black or neutrals look best) and if you’d like basic makeup such as mascara and blush. You certainly don’t need to wear makeup for the session but some mums like to freshen up a little.

This type of photography is a documentary style. The photographer acts as a “fly-on-thewall” and isn’t generally an active part of your delivery. Their job is to capture your story as it unfolds without much interference. A lot of our clients say that with nurses, aides, and doctors coming in and out they don’t really notice another presence.

Make sure to call us as soon as you go into labor. Ezgi will check in with you and typically start heading toward the hospital around the time you hit 6/7 cm. I and will be there for the duration of the birth.

We generally stay 1-2 hours after the birth to capture first snuggles, weight, and footprints. Then we leave to allow you to have family time. If you’d like additional photos the next day or before you leave the hospital we offer “Just Born” add-on sessions.

We will not post anything unless it is approved by you, and we do not have to post anything at all if that’s your wish. The birth photography you see on our site is a 10% of what we have documented. Some stories are not even here. The pictures that are chosen for our portfolio are cropped for modesty and discretion. Remember this is your birth and your memories. We are here to serve you.

We work with a professional retoucher to prepare your images as natural as possible. This editing process could take up to 3 weeks. We will email “birth announcement image” to you within 24 hours of your session so that you have it to share with others. Your remaining session images will be edited, and delivered to you within via Dropbox. You are free to share this gallery with others, or to keep it private. Anyone you give gallery access to will be able to view and download your sessions images, and to order prints and products from within your gallery. You will have 7 days in which to download your images, which are provided as full-resolution JPEG images without watermarks.

Yes, we offer payment plans upon request. For details on pricing for your session please Contact Us!
