Welcoming your new baby into the world is one of the most emotional and incredible times in your life. We want to capture those special moments for you to hold on to forever. There is nothing more beautiful than newborn photography, and we know the importance of preserving your family’s most precious moments.

We aim to create beautiful, soft, and timeless images using natural tones & textures that best compliment your babies. We will ensure that the pictures we capture are taken in very safe, warm and comfortable environments for you and your baby.

LOCATION & SCHEDULING

Newborn sessions generally take place in your own home. Your home environment is a wonderful and easy place to photograph your new baby and it also showcases your style and personality in such a special way. We also love to include ALL the family members including siblings and the pets.

The ideal time to photograph newborn is between 4-14 days when your baby is very sleepy and flexible, so please book your session as soon as you know your due date. While beautiful images can be captured at any stage and we work with newborns up to 6 weeks. We will make a tentative booking according to your due date and we can adjust this if your baby is early or late.

WARDROBE

Keep the family outfits clean, classic and comfortable.

The first tip we give to expectant mums who book a newborn session with us is to plan their outfits before baby is born. A newborn session is about capturing your family with the focus on the newest addition.You can also wear a soft, casual dress if that’s more comfortable. You want to look nice, however, you want to be comfortable. You just had a baby.

Mum, get a grey, white, or black nursing tank and a sweater to go over top. The tank top allows for those beautiful and intimate skin to skin shots, while we can throw the cardigan over for a little more formal shot with the family. Jeans (maternity are still most comfortable) or leggings are perfect pairing, too.

Dads and siblings should dress in neutral colours too. Again, this is the time for the focus to be on baby. Black, grey, white, cream, navy are all great for newborn sessions. Patterns are okay as long a they are simple and not distracting.

Newborns, as adorable as they are, don’t do well in “outfits”. Now isn’t the time to put them in huge dresses or stiff outfits. They just can’t hold it up and often get lost in all that material. Newborns are beautiful just as they are, so we suggest stripping them down to just a diaper and swaddling them in a blanket.

If you really want to dress baby, a well fitting onesie or sleeper are ideal for photos. Since babies love to blow out diapers and spit up, having a couple of options allows for back ups, just in case! A few favorite brands for neutral newborn clothes are L’oved Baby and Hanna Anderson.

CONSULTATION

All newborn sessions are tailored specifically to you and your baby. You will discuss ideas on style, colours and props. Once you have booked your session we will send you a guide on how to prepare for your baby’s first photo session.

RETOUCHING

Professional photo retouching is included in your session. We specialize in the most comprehensive and detailed editing, and your images will be retouched in as natural style as possible.
